Our mission

The Polynesian Cultural Center is a registered 501(c) 3 non-profit dedicated to preserving and perpetuating Polynesian culture, arts and traditions. We also support the educational needs of our student employees from throughout the Pacific Rim attending BYU-Hawaii. Through your visit, you have the satisfaction of knowing that 100% of all profits from our ticket sales are directed towards scholarships and support services for our student employees.

  • What is Gateway Dining at the Polynesian Cultural Center?

    Gateway Dining is a relaxed buffet experience with live music and island-inspired dishes. It is offered as an alternative to the lūʻau and is included with the Gateway Package. Guests can expect a generous meal in a welcoming setting before continuing into the evening experience. 

  • What kinds of food are served at the Gateway Buffet?

     The Gateway Buffet includes island-inspired favorites such as hand-carved sirloin, lilikoi BBQ ribs, garlic shrimp, poke, ahi sashimi, island-style sides, salads, desserts, and hand-scooped ice cream. The menu brings together fresh Pacific flavors in a way that feels familiar, flavorful, and easy to enjoy. 

  • Is Gateway Dining a good option instead of a lūʻau?

    Yes, Gateway Dining can be a good choice for guests who want a buffet meal with live music in a relaxed atmosphere rather than a lūʻau presentation. It still offers island-inspired food and a gathering-place feeling, while leaving room to enjoy the rest of the Polynesian Cultural Center experience.   

  • Are vegetarian or lighter options available at Gateway Dining?

    Yes, the Gateway Buffet includes vegan and vegetarian dishes, along with an excellent salad bar and a variety of side dishes. This makes it easier for guests with different tastes to enjoy the meal together, whether they prefer fresh vegetables, seafood, meat dishes, or lighter plates.  

  • How long does Gateway Dining last at the Polynesian Cultural Center?

    Gateway Dining lasts up to 2.5 hours and is available from 4:30 pm to 7:00 pm at the Gateway Restaurant. Guests can enjoy a relaxed buffet dinner with live music before heading to HĀ: Breath of Life or the next part of their evening.
